STEPANEK KNOCKS DEL POTRO OUT

Juan Martin Del Potro has been defeated in the second round of the Rogers cup by Radek Stepanek of Czech Republic. The Argentinean star, who had won the Bronze medal in the London Olympics a few days ago, looked completely out of touch in the match. He looked tired and Stepanek defeated him easily. The Czech player won the match in the straight sets by 6-4, 7-6(5). He took 1 hour and 50 minutes to defeat Del Potro.

In the very first game of the match, Del Potro’s service was broken. Stepanek held his service in the next game to make the score 2-0. In the next five games, both the players held their service and at the end of the seventh game, the score was 4-3. Del Potro made the set interesting by breaking the service of Stepanek in the eighth game.

The scores were leveled at 4-4 and the set was evenly poised. But, the Czech player came back in the very next game and got a breakthrough to take a lead of 5-4. He held his service in the next game and won the set by 6-4 (and I was lucky enough to have had a bet at betvictor.com on this exact score! :D)

In the second set, Del Potro played better. He got a breakthrough in the second game to take a lead of 2-0. However, he lost the advantage in the third game and the scores were leveled at 2-2 after the first four games. Del Potro took the lead again in the sixth game by breaking Stepanek’s service, but, he lost the advantage for the second time and Stapanek leveled the score again.

At the end of the 12 games, the scores were leveled at 6-6 and the set went into the tie breaker. It was such a close match than many fans were tempted to have a bet with Bet Victor on the outcoem.

In the tie breaker, Del Potro played some loose shots and lost the match. After the match, Del Potro said that he was tired after playing in the Olympics. He tried hard, but, Stepanek flattened him with some fantastic shots.
